Stone Remote Learning Norms and Expectations for Families

Overview

  • Teachers will hold Google Meets from 8:00-3:00. Students will participate in a combination of whole class instruction, small group instruction, and independent learning/work time.
  • All teachers will build in movement and brain breaks in each learning block.
  • Links for Google Meets will be posted in your child’s Google Classroom.
  • Students must log on with their own CPS log-in information Standard attendance, grading, and homework policies will remain in place.

   

Student Expectations 

Students will be safe, organized, accountable, and respectful (SOAR) in all MEETS:

  • Join the meeting on time, ready to learn and prepared with all needed supplies and materials
  • Participate in discussions and activities (camera on whenever possible, microphone muted when not speaking)
  • Work independently, limit parent and sibling help
  • Select a comfortable work space that is camera-friendly and reasonably free of distractions  

 

Parent Expectations

  • Provide a comfortable workspace that is camera-friendly and reasonably free of distraction
  • Assist students in setting up and maintaining technology (All devices charged and functioning)
  • Allow students to work independently in order to best reproduce the classroom setting
  • Assist students in following their daily schedule
  • Families are invited to join teachers’ daily virtual office hours from 12:45-1:00pm. Parents who are unable to join office hours can contact teachers by email to schedule parent/teacher meetings (Please allow 1 school day for teacher response)  

 

Teacher Expectations

  • Provide “Week at a Glance” for parents and students that includes the week’s schedule, learning goals, assignments and upcoming due dates
  • Provide regular feedback to students and parents
  • Respond to parents via email within 1 school day
