Annual Fall Check Writing Campaign

Did you know that our budget is dependent on fundraising? Our annual pledge drive counts on donations from family and friends of the students and faculty and raises essential funds for supplemental athletic, arts, and acedemic programming that helped Stone become one of Chicago’s top elementary schools. Always remember that a donation of any amount helps us reach our overall goal of $85,000.

Your efforts and pledges support:

  • Literacy programs
  • Visiting Artists
  • World Language
  • Fine Arts
  • Science and Math
  • Campus Beautification
  • After School Clubs

and many more.

Gift Cards for Kids

Now, you can shop at your favorite stores, buy your favorite products and make money for Stone at the same time. Simply by buying gift cards through our Gift Card for Kids program you will get the standard gift cards to use at your favorite stores and a percentage of the proceeds goes back to Stone.

You can buy the cards for gifts, or for every day use - shop at Jewel or Starbucks with one of the gift cards, for example. Gift cards will be available to purchase every month.

Raven Theater & Silent Auction

In order to support our 2nd graders work with Raven Theatre and other arts programs, each year in the spring we hold a theatre afternoon for our parents at Raven Theatre.  In recent years, we have seen Twelve Angry Men, Hedda Gabler and A Soldier's Play. The event includes snacks and complementary drinks. Join us this year on Sunday, February 12th, 2017. This year the silent auction will be held online at: http://biddingforgood.com/stone.

Student Jog-a-thon

Our annual Spring Jog-A-Thon gives all of our students, from Kindergarten through Grade 8, the chance to — literally — run for the money. Each grade is given 40-minutes to run a designated course around the school and money is generated from businesses, friends and family through donations or actual pledges, based on how many laps the students complete during the event.  Our students' enthusiasm for the event grows with each passing year and our enthusiasm grows exponentially as we cultivate an environment that helps students set and maintain positive, healthy goals.

Last year's jog-a-thon raised over $25,000 from Stone families, friends and businesses. Help us raise even more this year. Volunteers are always welcome, so let Virginia Falkner if you would like to help out with this year's Jog-a-thon scheduled for May 4th, 2017.

Box Tops for Education

Save your Boxtops for Education from participating General Mills products and drop them off at the School in the container in the office.  We can redeem them for money from General Mills. Drop them off throughout the year, but be sure to get them in by the deadlines of November 1st and March 1st.

Last year the PTA raised $800 from Box Tops to support our students, faculty and community.

If You Eat Out

Throughout the year, we will have events at local restaurants that will donate a portion of the proceeds to Stone Academy. Past events have included Candlelite, Marty's Martini Bar, Chipotle and Potbelly's.

Last year FOSA raised over $2,000 for our arts porgramming through restaurant fundraisers.

Matching Gifts

Friends of Stone Academy (FOSA)’s Matching Gifts Program

At this time, more than 4000 companies in the United States offer matching gifts to encourage their employees to donate to qualified non-profits.  There are some companies that will provide matching funds to support their employees’ volunteer hours.  Most matching gift programs donate a dollar for every dollar their employee donates.  Some will double or triple the amount given by their employee.  It is worth checking with your company to see if they are one of those.

How do I get started?

Check with your company’s Human Resources department to see if they match employee donations, and if Stone Academy, or Friends of Stone Academy*, is eligible.  Either they will provide you with a paper form to fill out, or they will give you instructions to apply online and print out the form.  Put the completed form in an envelope with your gift and send it to school in an envelope marked FOSA. We will confirm your gift for your company and submit the paperwork required.

Gifts that may qualify for a matching gift include:

Your annual gift to FOSA, Raven Theatre donations, Jogathon donations, classroom donations, book donations, and others may all qualify for matching gifts.
